Our Guardian Angel

It’s been a hectic and emotional start to the year.  On January 3rd, Heaven gained another beautiful angel with the passing of my grandmother.  No words can express how much we already miss our sweet DeeDee.  She was so special to so many and without a doubt, the heart of our family.  I feel so blessed to have had the special relationship with her that I had.  I feel doubly blessed that she was so much a part of my kids’ lives as well.  Colbie especially talks about her all the time and how much she misses DeeDee and their “beauty days” and how she see’s “dark pink clouds in the sky!”  She was the best grandmother in the world and gave us all so much joy, happiness and laughter.  As difficult as it is to come to grips with her passing, we celebrate the 90 amazing years that she lived and are so grateful for all incredible memories that she gave us.  She will forever be in our hearts and alive with us in spirit.  We miss you so much DeeDee and we love you with all our hearts!

We had these taken around DeeDee’s 90th last year.  I love this one with the kids.

This is pretty much how we’ve spent every Saturday for the past month… with these two adorable soccer players!  This is Colbie’s first season and while she doesn’t seem overly enthusiastic about the whole thing, I give her credit because she gets out there and hustles the entire game without complaining.  I’ll never forget Grayson’s first season and how hysterical he was.  No shyness anymore though….he is one heck of a player these days and is a little speed demon out there!

I find lots of random pictures on my phone these days, like these two that Colbie took!

There’s been a lot of juicing going on at the Morris house thanks to bags and bags of oranges and lemons from Buddy’s house.  We didn’t want them to go to waste, so we bought a cheap citrus juicer and haven’t had to make orange juice or lemonade for the past six weeks!

Becca got the kids a cute book for Christmas and they always get a kick out of the part where I call myself a “boo boo butt!”  Anyhow, Grayson got really clever one day and wrote this out and stuck it on his Mama’s butt!  When he’s not harassing his Mama, he’s practicing math!  I find these all over the house now.  He LOVES math and loves to write out addition and subtraction problems FOR FUN!  Crazy kid!

You can’t tell in these pictures, but this little guy was pretty sick a couple of weeks ago.  Ended up have a bad ear infection and a mild case of pneumonia :/  Thankfully, after ten days of antibiotics, he is back to his usual loud, clownin’-around-self!

Believe it or not, these two crazy kids went for a dip in the pool last weekend after the soccer games!  It has been a little warmer than usual, but still WAY too freezing for me!

We’ve to several birthday parties over the past few weeks.  Had some face painting done at cousin Sadie’s last Saturday!

I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about how Jed is completely obsessed with his lovies!  This is pretty much what he looks like throughout the day…. lovey in hand and partly in mouth.  We cannot go anywhere without it and we definitely can’t go to sleep without it.  We actually have 5 of them… after dragging them throughout the house, the bathroom and in the grass & dirt outside, they definitely need to be washed every night!  Grayson was attached to his lovies & still sleeps with his favorite, but for Jed, it seems more like a pacifier.  He really panics if you try to take it away!

This is how we roll!  You can’t see Carter… he’s back there too!  This is what my car looks like every other week… five crazy kids and usually a trip to Sonic!

We had uncle Dale over for a little surprise birthday dinner on Sunday.  I made DeeDee’s famous angel food birthday cake for him and used the electric knife (the chain saw!) she got us to cut it … felt like she was there with us celebrating!

Had a perfect birthday yesterday… super low key…had wine & appetizers with my mom & a little shopping earlier in the day and then pizza & cake with the kids and my parents that night.  Blaine & I even made it to our small group after that.  Off to celebrate with friends tonight at Jack & Rosies!  Feeling very grateful.
