Denver

Well, we survived our trip to Denver!  And thank God for Reed (my cousin who joined us on the plane ride) because I honestly don’t think we could have done it without him!  I also think we may have ruined his chances of ever having kids after that trip!

Grayson really was an awesome little traveller.   He did great on the trip and in his make-shift bed & adjusted well with all the new people and excitement.  Colbie, on the other hand, was not a happy camper on the plane and wanted NOTHING to do with the sitters that we had arranged for the night of the wedding.  There were two teenage sitters for 3 kids (2 of them mine), and it took the sitters’ mom coming over, followed by grandma, and then eventually dad to finally get her to calm down and stop crying after about 2 hours.  I felt like a horrible mom for not rushing back after being called three times at the wedding, but I was a good 45 minutes away and I knew she was in good hands and would eventually pass out…..EVENTUALLY that is!  I felt even worse for the poor sitters, as I could hear her screaming in the background every time they called!  Granted, I did leave the wedding fairly early and found her peacefully asleep by the time I got home…..with the sitter’s dad still there on stand by!  Oh, my stubborn little Colbie!  She wanted her Mama and she wanted her NOW!

At the Yuma airport the day we left for Denver…….the calm before the storm!  You can almost see it in her eyes!!

One of the first things Granny Annie couldn’t wait to teach Grayson was how to use the middle finger properly!

The flower girl brought some of her toys to the rehearsal dinner and was sweet enough to share her doll with Colbie.  I have never seen Colbie so excited!  It was like watching a baby on crack…..she was shaking it, kissing it, licking it, biting it…..all sweet acts of love!

The wedding was in Evergreen, CO which is about 30 miles north of Denver and was absolutely beautiful.  Lyle and Briana got perfect weather that day and looked just stunning!

Granny Annie was an amazing hostess and really seemed to enjoy the kiddos.   As crazy and exhausting as the trip was, I am so glad that we made it and that I was able to be there for Lyle’s wedding!  It was great to see all of our extended family too and enjoy a little cooler weather and beautiful scenery for a few days.

So thank you again to Annie for all your hospitality and to Reed and the Spratlens and everyone that helped make our trip a little smoother!  And a big CONGRATS to Lyle and Briana!

Sweet Baby Jesus!

008

Yesterday (Sunday), while I was feeding Colbie breakfast, I was asking her what we should call her.  I started off by saying, ”Coco?….no….Coles?…..”  Grayson jumped in and said, “Hmmmm……lets call her…….JESUS!”  Wow!  I just about fell off my chair laughing!  I hope I didn’t offend anyone :-)  He then proceeded to pat her head and say “Hi Jesus! Hi baby Jesus!”  The funny thing about it is we hadn’t been to church in at least a few months and had been talking about how we’d like to start going again.  Well, as hysterical as Mr. Grayson made me, I took it as a little sign and we all decided to make it to church that morning!

Just a few pictures from the last couple of weeks…..

Colbie having her first taste of real spaghetti!  And loving it!

Kim had a surprise Birthday party for her dad a couple of weekends ago.  This is a picture of Kim’s sister, Deana’s little boy, Adae (who is only a couple months older than Colbie).  Well, Miss Colbie couldn’t keep her hands or lips off the poor boy!!

This kids also had their 3 year and 9 month check ups at the beginning of this month and are both growing, growing, growing and doing great!  Grayson weighed in at 32 lbs and 38 inches and Colbie was 18 lb 14 oz and 29 inches!

So we are off to Colorado on Wednesday for my cousin Lyle’s wedding this upcoming weekend.  While I am excited for the wedding and to see all of my extended family, I am a little anxious about the plane ride and a long day of travel with the kiddos, especially since Blaine won’t be making it due to work.  Thankfully though, my cousin Reed got our same flight at the last minute and has offered to be Mr. Blaine Morris for a day!  Oh, he has no idea what he signed up for!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Grayson!

Grayson really had quite the birthday WEEKEND, celebrating his three years of life over three whole days! We kicked off the celebrations on Friday (his actual Birthday)with a special birthday breakfast in the am and dinner that night with cake and ice cream. Blaine and I gave him our gift that evening, which as you can see, was his first real “big boy bike!” It didn’t take him long to get the hang of it!

The next day (Saturday) was pretty special. Grayson has mentioned wanting to be a fireman for Halloween and always gets super excited when we pass the fire station by our house and especially when we see a fire truck race by. Well, one of the girls that I work with happens to be married to a fireman, who was kind enough to invite us down to the fire station where he works and gave us the ULTIMATE tour! Grayson not only got to sit in a real fire truck and try on the helmet and gear, but they actually took him for a little ride in the truck and turned on the sirens! What a special and memorable experience!

So finally to the party! On Sunday (yesterday), we through him a party with all of our family and friends at a place called Jump Up (which happens to be one of Grayson’s favorite places). The party was a huge success and everyone (including Papa as you’ll see below!) really seemed to enjoy themselves!

Updates on Miss Colbie: Little Missy is standing up and walking all over the place now (holding onto something of course!) But it doesn’t seem like it will be long before she’s off on her own! I really hope I’m wrong because she is already into EVERYTHING and getting little bumps and bruises from being a little dare devil, and I know that the walking stage will only intensify the above! Needless to say, she is doing great and is a healthy happy little girl! Just a few cute pics taken over the past few weeks…. 001008011012018019
