Yesterday, Blaine celebrated his 33rd Birthday.  We had a little family birthday dinner for him last night at Chretines.  It was a good opportunity to take some pictures of the kids :)  My mom got this little outfit for Colbie a while back so I know she’ll appreciate these pictures!  She’s been in Laguna since August, so we miss her!

This kid can’t get enough of his cowboy getup!  This is all he wants to wear these days!  And miss Colbie enjoying a cookie!

“Mommy, will you marry me?”

This happened a few weeks ago and I’ve been meaning to write about it before I forget.  I was tucking Grayson into bed and rubbing his back like I always do.  He noticed my ring and said, “What’s that cold thing on your finger?”  I said “That’s Mama’s wedding ring.”  He says, “Will I get a wedding ring one day?”  I said, “Sure, when you meet a special girl and get married, you’ll get a wedding ring too.”  He starts to get sad and says, “But I’m not gonna marry you?”  I said, “no sweetheart, you’ll marry a special girl that you fall in love with one day.”  Now he’s seriously crying and says, “But I wanna marry you!”  This totally made me giggle and broke my heart at the same time!  Apparently I did this with my dad when I was about Grayson’s age too.  My mom says I got really angry at my mom because she told me I couldn’t marry him.  Finally she told me that when I turned 18 and if I STILL want to marry my dad, then I could.  I guess this shut me up and clearly things changed when I turned 18!  Might have to use the same line with Grayson :)

It’s been a busy month.  Time just seems to be flying by these days.  Grayson had his four year check up with Dr. Dan last week.  He had his first official big boy physical, completing a vision and hearing test and even had to pee in a cup!  This totally cracked him up!  Everything checked out A-ok and he weighed in at 37 lbs. and 41 inches tall.

Colbie is still just a little chatter box these days and totally runs the show.  Any time Grayson is trying to talk to me in the car, she starts screaming out her ABC’s or says “stop it you guys, stop it….RIGHT NOW!”  She likes to have the floor!  Just this morning we were driving to the gym and out of the blue, she tells me, “Mommy, need car wash!”  She was right too!  When I pick her up from school, she tells me, “Mommy, I miss you.”  This melts my heart!   Her favorite movie right now is The Wizard of Oz…..”Mommy, it’s Dorothy, Dorothy Mommy, right there!”  Grayson tells me he is tired of the Wizard of Oz, and I don’t blame him.  We’ve easily watched it over twenty times in the last month!  Her favorite book right now is “The Best Nest”……”Mommy, here comes Mr. Parker!”  I think this was Grayson’s favorite book too at about the same age.

Lunch with Buddy…

This was taken over a month ago.  Colbie has gotten quite comfortable in the pool using her floaties now.

We had a big storm a few weeks ago and had the most beautiful double rainbow.  The kids had fun dancing in the rain.

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY GRAYSON SCOTT!

Grayson wanted a cowboy cake and cowboy boots this year…and that’s exactly what he got!   Buddy and Susan gave him his first pair of real cowboy boots and Wranglers…. they are adorable and Grayson loves his new boots!  Aunt Jessica and family gave him a real cowboy hat, along with some spurs, a pistol, handcuffs and the whole get up.  He is having a blast shooting his gun and cuffing us and then taking us to jail.  He also got a fancy set of binoculars from Uncle Ryan and Aunt Kimmie that he uses to find the “bad guys!”
He’s also been asking us for “fishies” for the last year or so, so Mamma and Dadda finally gave in and got him some goldfish to go along with Billy the hamster….yes, he is still alive! 

While in Laguna, Grayson and Colbie really got used to and enjoyed sleeping in the same room together.  We recently surprised him with bunk beds so that they could have slumber parties.  What were we thinking, right?!  We put them together Wednesday night after he fell asleep and then put him on the bottom bunk so that he would wake up in it.  You should have seen his face when he came into our room the next morning!  It was quite the surprise!

Here are some other pictures I took over the past couple of weeks….
I let the kids make sugar cookies a little while back.  Yes…it was a royal mess, but they had fun!

It rained a couple of weeks ago and we were able to see a rainbow.  You don’t get to see these too often around here!  We went for a walk & scooter ride in the rain and then came back and did some skinny dipping in the pool…..the kids did that is!

We made breakfast for dinner one evening.  This was fun for the kids and pretty yummy too!

To jump start Grayson’s birthday weekend, we took the kids to Yuma’s new water park on Saturday.  I was super impressed with everything.  They had slides and pools for all ages and we were actually able to take the kids on all the slides except a few, as long as they went in our laps.  The kids were both conked out in the car on the way home from too much fun!

Thank you to everyone who made it to Grayson’s birthday party yesterday and made it a special day for our big four year old!
