Home Run Ball!

014006

Grayson is one lucky two year old! As a Father’s Day gift, Blaine took his Dad, my Dad and Grayson to Grayson’s first Major League ball game last Sunday to watch the Diamond Backs. Not only was it “free backpack day” for all the kids, but Daddy actually caught a home run ball during batting practice! It was apparently a great winning game and the boys had a fun trip and great time together.

As I mentioned in the last post, Grayson has been very particular lately about what he wears and this includes a new pair of shoes that he insists on wearing EVERYWHERE! He loves them! The shoes are cute, but I got them a while back, thinking he could wear them in the fall and winter with jeans…..not with any color shorts, swimsuits, etc.! Whatever, we have to pick our battles, right?! I think it’s just cute now!

And little missy is crawling all over the place now and getting pretty speedy too! It’s definitely given her a new sense of independence since she can follow you anywhere and pretty much get into everything! But it is just that….she can get into everything now and we can no longer set her down and keep her “contained” for a few minutes while finishing dinner or laundry or something. I am also having to be a little more careful now with keeping clean floors (super easy with a toddler!!!), since she sees something she wants (like a popcorn kernel) and it goes directly to the mouth!

…And We’re Off!

001002

Colbie is officially crawling this week! And unlike Grayson, who did a little army crawl for the first couple months, Colbie went straight to crawling on all fours. And she pretty much has the swing of it now and will attempt to follow you anywhere. She’s also figured out how to pull herself up to a sitting position from her belly, so we’ve had to lower the crib, as she is a strong and MOBILE little girl!

I had these pictures taken of the kids this month, mostly for my mom, since she bought this adorable dress for Colbie and loves the Fourth of July. I also wanted some nice pictures of the two of them together. I’m surprised they turned out ok, as we had one of our fabulous rolling-on-the-concrete-kicking-and-screaming tantrums outside of J.C.Penney’s before going in for our pictures. It all started over nothing really…...doesn’t take much to set the G-man off! When I was getting him ready that morning for his pictures, I was combing his hair and saying “you are so handsome Grayson…..we’re going to have to fight all those girls off!” Well, as most toddlers do and ESPECIALLY Grayson, we took this very literally and were deathly afraid of all girls after this, including the girl who he assumed would be taking his pictures……Thank God it happened to be a man! Anyhow, all things considered, I think they turned out pretty cute!

004

He is a funny little dude! He is really into dressing himself these days…..also a super fun and challenging thing to deal with! Most of the time (especially on the days that I’m home), I just let him pick what he wants or don’t give him too many options. Last night, the boys were getting ready to take a bike ride to feed the ducks and get some DQ, and this is what he came out wearing! Apparently he was prepared for some mud and rain and maybe some fishing along the way! Maybe a silly outfit for our climate, but I was impressed with the camouflage coordination! On that note, he’s also very attentive with what I am wearing and how my hair is looking…..and he is also VERY opinionated and totally indiscrete about it. He makes a face and tells me “I don’t like those pants” or “I don’t like your hair tangled” and approves once I fix things for his liking! He really likes dresses and doesn’t usually like my hair up (which is great since I have a “grabby-hair” 7 month old!)! Kinda scary….I know!

003

I think every mom feels this way at some point, especially with your first born!

006

One more thing I have to mention (since this blog basically serves as my baby book). As most of you know, Grayson has always been VERY attached to his “lovies” and has gone through several over the years. We couldn’t go to bed or go anywhere without his lovie for a long time….including school. I even got into making lovies for a while, since I was tired of buying them and having meltdowns when it was bedtime and we couldn’t find one or one was in the wash. Anyhow, I’ve just noticed lately that he seems to have outgrown his “wuuvies!” He hasn’t been taking them to school for the last several weeks or toting them around anymore. It’s just funny how little things like this make you realize how quickly your little one is growing up right before your eyes!

4th of July Weekend

014016001

We had an awesome trip to Laguna for the fourth of July weekend. We missed Grammy & Papa this year because they had a wedding in Northern Arizona, but it was fun to have Ryan & Kim join us, as well as the Anderson/Hollenbach bunch. We had two great beach days….the water was actually warm enough to go swimming. We joined the Andersons at their place for some yummy steak tacos (thanks to Eric!) and then the next morning for Sandi’s “world famous” eggs benedict for a 4th of July brunch. Since Ryan and Kim had to leave after the brunch, we sort of laid low 4th of July day and went out for an early dinner that night and then came home to watch the fireworks. Although Colbie couldn’t stay up late enough for the show, Grayson had a ball watching fireworks from the condo, where you could see about 7-8 different shows! Tuesday, we got up early and took another trip to Sea World, since Blaine & Colbie weren’t able to join us a few weeks back. Now, back to muggy HOT weather and work for a few weeks till we head out to the White Mountains at the end of the month. We also have swim lessons for the next couple weeks to look forward too!

6th Month Pictures

009

So Colbie’s six month check up was just a few weeks ago and she weighed just a little over 16 lbs. I just weighed her right now because I was curious and she feels heavier and she was just a few ounces under 18 lbs.!!! I don’t know how this is possible in only a few weeks, but she has been eating like crazy and sleeping a little more than usual lately, so I guess it’s fair to say that she’s been going through a little growth spurt! In fact in the last two weeks, Colbie has slept through the night twice!!! Once, from 7-5 and and another time 7-4 (close enough!) I don’t want to get my hopes up though because it’s not consistent and Grayson was well over a year before he was sleeping through the night.

Colbie is also scooting all over the place these days and VERY close to crawling. Yesterday I had her on the floor in her room and went out to the kitchen to get some things and found her 1/2 way down the hallway following me! She gets up on all fours and does this little back and forth waddle and then flops back down on her belly.

We have had a lot going on here lately. I threw Becca a little surprise Baby Shower last Saturday at Olive Garden. Maggie got a lot of adorable little things and now we all can’t wait for her to get here!

001

Colbie had her first official “play date” (with someone her age that is) last Sunday when we had some friends, Hayley & Anthony over for dinner and their daughter Quinn (who is just a month or so older than Colbie). The girls had fun together; however, I think Grayson may have felt a little left out Sad smile

018

I’ve been doing “toddler time” at the library with both Grayson and Colbie on Wednesdays and the Harkins summer movie program on Thursdays with Grayson. We also get to hang with Miss Molly and Becca! Grayson has really enjoyed the movies so far and does pretty well sitting the whole time…..aside from at least 1-2 potty breaks! In a couple weeks we will start Mommy and Me swim classes again, which I have both kids signed up for. I was bummed that I couldn’t get Grayson into the pre-school class since he has been doing so well lately in our pool. For the last couple of months he swims on his own with his little floaties and does awesome! Unfortunately, he will be just 2 months shy of being old enough for the Parks and Rec pre-school class.

Getting ready for bed.

003008

Colbie continues to eat pretty much everything you offer her. She’ll even let Grayson feed her! It is so wonderful, especially having had one that was (and still is) the COMPLETE opposite. Grayson has gotten a lot better, but you still have to pull and arm and a let sometimes to get him to eat…..he is much more interested in playing and just being a little goofball! I’ve been making a lot of my own baby foods just because the Gerber foods are so limited and it is fun to let her enjoy a wide variety of foods. So far she had tried and liked everything from avocados, broccoli, green beans, zucchini, carrots, peas, cantaloupe, blueberries, pears, apples, bananas, prunes, peaches……and I’m still probably missing a few! I really can’t think of one thing I’ve offered that she didn’t like!

004005

Blaine’s been working non-stop (literally!) and hasn’t had a day off in over 3 weeks! However, watermelon season ends TODAY and I just work a 1/2 day tomorrow and then we are off to the beach for some cooler weather and a fun 4th of July weekend in Laguna! We are definitely needing a little vacation!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend!
