Four Month Check Up!

007

Colbie’s four month check up was last week and she is a healthy, happy, thriving little girl! She weighed in at 14 lb. 11 oz and 26 inches long and lots of brains, of course! She is apparently in the 95th percentile in length and average in weight. This surprises me when you look at her chubby little thighs and cheeks! I had some cute pictures from the last week that I wanted to share.

Holding sister’s hand while watching a movie! He is such a sweet big brother (when he wants to be!!)

As you can see, Grayson is still VERY attached to his “lovies!.” In fact, I have learned how to make them now and have made him several so that we always have a clean one for him to have (since one or two are usually always in the wash!)

If only having two little ones was always this easy! Grayson was playing with my IPod and Colbie was happily watching the Desperate Housewives during this picture! No fighting, no whining, no crying! Trust me, these moments are few and far between!

Uncle Dale and DeeDee came over for a visit last week. Playing “camp out” in Grayson’s tent.

I bought the boys matching Superman t-shirts. Super cheesy….I know, but Grayson loved it!

We had a nice relaxing weekend here! Spent more time in the pool and took Grayson to see the movie, Rio, which he LOVED! Colbie and I had to leave before the movie even started, as she was NOT in the mood! We’ve taken her to a couple movies with Grayson, but that was when she was teeny tiny and slept all the time. I think it will be a while now before we can start going again as a family again.

Anyhow, long day and tomorrow’s Monday Sad smile Gotta get some rest. Hope everyone has a great week!

Rollin' rollin' rollin'!

As the title suggests, we have quite the little gymnast on our hands! Colbie is now rolling all over the place (literally!), from both her tummy to back and back to tummy very easily and is already scooting herself around on her belly. No more leaving her on the couch or even in a bouncer without making sure she completely strapped in! I don't remember Grayson being this mobile this early. Maybe it's something about the second child....she just wants to catch up to her big bro! Or maybe I do have a little Mary Lou Retton on my hands! Regardless, Colbie has really transformed out of that tiny fragile infant stage and into the cute chubby baby stage overnight....at least that's what it feels like. Not only is she a little tumble weed, but she is a little chatty catty when you talk to her, she reaches for and plays with her toys (which consists of sucking on them!), and laughs and smiles all the time! Her sleep patterns unfortunately are still very inconsistent. Some nights, I only have to wake up once, but others I may be up three times with her. And as far as her naps go, she still seems to be more of a cat napper instead of taking 2-3 good long naps like Grayson did. Maybe this has to do with being the second child too. While a schedule would be nice, it really seems next to impossible right now! I guess I'm just learning to be a lot more flexible with the second child. Anyhow, enough rambling. Wanted to share a bunch of pictures from the past few weeks. I wish I could keep up with this blog more often, but finding a 1/2 hour here or there without interruption so that I can write about our crazy life is also a next to impossible task! I used to at least have Grayson's nap time, which I would sometimes use to keep up with this, but getting my little munchkins to nap at the same time is just not happening, so I am pretty much being demanded at all times these days. Last weekend, we heated up our pool and had my parents over for dinner. It was Colbie's first experience in the pool. While she loves her baths, she wasn't too excited about the water and only lasted about 10 minutes. Hopefully she warms up to it though, because summer is coming and I know we'll be spending a lot of time in the pool, especially since Grayson is a little fish!

Playing baseball with Grammy!

We also had the Goodwin and McIntier clans over on Sunday for some carne tacos and to take advantage of this beautiful weather. Molly was all tuckered out when it was time for her to go home and decided she'd rather just crash in Grayson's bed instead of going home for a nap! Grayson and his "older woman" Rebecca having a lunch date! Carter was all smiles with his new girlfriend! Becca, Colbie and Miss Maisy or Miss Maggie! Fair was also last week. Below is a picture taken from the Ferris wheel!

The weekend before last, Ryan had invited us out to the YPG museum. Grayson had a blast climbing on the tanks, checking out the missiles, and playing "bang bang" with his uncle Ryan! I think this last one just speaks for itself! If he's not "banging" something, he's usually in Mommy's closet trying on shoes! I know... two total extremes. That's just the way he rolls! Hope everyone has a happy Friday and GOOD LUCK to Michaela on her incredible 50 mile run this weekend! We will all be cheering you on!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Just wanted to share Colbie's 3 month pictures that we had taken last week along with a few fun ones from our little St. Patrick's day dinner at my parents' last night. We celebrated with a little green beer and an awesome corned beef and cabbage dinner that my mom cooked!

All tuckered out! It was all that green beer!

Papa and Grayson were having some fun playing with his first whoopee cushion!

March Madness!

March seems to be the birthday month. Counting the coming weekend, we will have attended 5 birthday parties in the past two weeks! Along with parties, cake and fun has come some beautiful weather lately. We have tried to take advantage of it while it's here by spending more time outside and taking a few trips to the park, where Grayson has become quite the fisherman....that is, thanks to his Daddy and Uncle Ryan!

Below are a few pictures taken at the park.

Uncle Ryan caught a huge cat fish!

Deciding whether or not he should touch it!

We took the kids to Midnight at the Oasis last weekend just for something different to do. Grayson definitely has his Mama's love for any adrenaline rush! While he is Mr. Sensitive and the biggest cry-baby when it comes to MOST things, he loves rides and has no problem getting on them all by himself! This is the ride he couldn't wait to get on!

He picked the snake to have painted on his face!

Colbie started rolling over (from tummy to back) a couple weeks back. She continues to grow and is getting the cutest rolly, dimply little thunder thighs! Although she is not the best napper during the day, she sleeps pretty well at night, going down about 8:30 and usually only waking up once around 1 or 2. I change her, nurse her and she is usually back to sleep within a 1/2 hour and sleeps till about 6:30. She is becoming quite talkative and giggly these days too! I will need to upload a video soon.

Gotta appreciate this picture! I think this will be how most of our pictures will turn out for a while! At least one of them will be in tears and the other probably looking away!

Still rockin' the blue eyes! Who knows what they'll do.

Last week was my first real week (3 days) back at work and so far so good. It's just been a learning process trying to find time to cram all the house chores and shopping done and still spend (quality) time with the kids on my "days off!" Grayson is doing well at school, but still puts up a HUGE fight....blood, sweat and major tears every time we have to drop him off in the morning. As much as it kills me, I just have to remind myself that it is short lived (at least that's what his teachers tell me!) and it is good for him! I will totally second the Burgess' on the fact that it is no longer the "terrible twos" that are a challenge, but rather the upcoming three's that we have to worry about! As much as I love him, there are MANY days where he makes me want to pull my hair out and scream! Every little thing from getting dressed to taking a bath to brushing his teeth can quickly turn into a full blown temper tantrum if we don't catch him just at the right moment when he is in a super happy mood and most importantly, when he feels that he is in TOTAL CONTROL! And as he gets older, smarter, more independent, and much much more stubborn, we just have to continue to practice our patience, patience and more patience!!!! This too shall pass! I HOPE!

On a very happy note, my mom completed her last chemo treatment on Monday! Hooray! Three more weeks till she can have the port taken out and then she can hopefully start feeling well again and put this all behind her for good! You are doing awesome Mom :-)
Happy St. Patty's Day to everyone tomorrow!!
Oh, and GO WILCATS!

Just sharing a few new pics....

Not much new to report here. I just wanted to share some new pictures before they pile up on me and I have to do a super long post.

Great GranDeeDee with her babies! This was taken last weekend at my Mom's Birthday party. Poor DeeDee had been in the hospital for about 2 weeks just prior to this with a number of health problems, but we are happy to report that she is home now and doing a little better every day :-)

Grayson likes to play "baby" and snuggle up close to his sister under her play gym.

Taken last week when we had all that rain. Grayson clearly had a ball!

Go Kings!!! My mom got her this little cheer sleeper.
I love this picture! Colbie sort of has Grayson's goofy surprised look that he always had as a baby!

There's no doubting he loves his baby sister!

That's all for now. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Decide for yourself!

This was my mom's idea actually. Everyone is saying that Colbie looks so much like Grayson (well...they ARE siblings!), so since this was one of my favorite pictures of Grayson taken in Tennessee when he was about the same age as Colbie is now, we thought we'd dress her in the same clothes and try to get the same shot. You guys decide for yourselves! I definitely think they look alike, but I do think she has different shaped eyes. I also wonder if you take any baby about the same age and dress them alike, you would probably see some similarities! Anyhow, just thought it would be fun.

Not much new here. Just celebrated my 31st Birthday last Saturday (God, that sounds so old!). My mom babysat so that Blaine and I could go out for dinner and a movie. We had a nice time. Funny though, we were home by 9:15 and ready for bed.....how times have changed now that kids are in the picture! That was usually when things just got going!

We got our "first day of school" picture by the front door too before our "BIG" night out!
Since my brother's birthday was on Monday, our family decided to have a picnic at the park on Sunday to celebrate both of our birthdays. The weather has been beautiful and it's always nice to let Grayson burn some of that energy outside. Calvin and Susan joined us, as well as the McIntier clan. I really didn't get too many pictures besides the one below of Buddy & Grayson fishing.

Friday night was Dale's 60th Birthday (YES, we have a lot of February birthdays! In fact, Grandma Morris' was last Tuesday and my mom's is this Saturday!) Anyhow, our family threw him a little party at my parents. Below is a picture of Uncle Ryan and Grayson sharing some chips and salsa... and yes, I think he's saying "that salsa is HOT!"
Future Wildcat! That's my BOY!

Colbie wearing her little Valentine sleeper.

May look like Grayson, but I'm pretty sure she got my lazy eye!

Our little Sweet Pea! Looks more like a sweat band than a bow! I'm trying! Reminds me of my Mary Lou Retton days! Oh, Becca remembers those days!

Grayson is doing really well in school. Breaks down crying every time I drop him off (yes, this kills me every time, but I am used to it now..... it's been that way since he was about 4 months old!). He is always happy when I pick him up though and has lots to tell me in the car on the way home. The other day we are driving home and out of the blue, he says, "Mommy, I said my sorry." I thought to myself, "Oh, shit! What did he do!" He goes on to tell me (without my asking) "I no throw sand in the boy's face." While I was a little upset to learn that my son is throwing sand at other kids, I was very proud of him for 1) telling me without even asking and 2) learning a life lesson. No, we don't throw sand in the boy's face anymore! Needless to say, he surprises me and cracks me up everyday with something new he has learned at school.

I went back to work last Thursday. Just working a handful of days this month...sort of easing my way back into it. I go back to my usual three days a week starting in March. I have to admit, while I miss the kids when I'm gone, it was a nice break and good to get some "adult time." Yes, even scraping plaque off of people's teeth is a nice distraction..... away from nursing, wiping boogers and butts, cleaning house and picking up toys all day long! I know that I couldn't work full time with the kids, but a part time schedule is a nice balance....at least for me.
Well, I guess that's it for now. Hope everyone has a great week!
